Articulation - The Tech Prep Link
Articulation is a term used to describe the process that facilitates the transition of a student from one educational institution to another or from one level of education to the next with minimum duplication of coursework.
Through the Washtenaw Community College Articulation Project, an agreement between Ypsilanti Public Schools and Washtenaw Community College, qualifying YHS students are eligible to receive advanced college credit for courses taken in the Business Education Department at Ypsilanti High School. This recognizes that skills and competencies are developed through successful completion of specific coursework at the secondary level.
Students in our Accounting, Business Technology, Computerized Accounting, and Word classes are eligible to articulate 3-10 credit hours that will place them in advanced courses in the Business Office Systems Department. The high school teacher verifies that the student has achieved specific levels of competency.
Students must enroll at WCC and apply for articulated credit within two years of high school graduation. All WCC entrance academic standards must be met and maintained.
There are many benefits of pursuing articulated credit:
1. savings on tuition, books and fees
2. saves time without duplicating classwork
3. allows time in a schedule for expanded program content
Articulation provides the Tech Prep link to post-secondary education and becomes the vehicle that many students need to pursue their education after high school.
