Ypsilanti Adult Education offers classes to Michigan residents 20 years of age and older as of September 1st of the current school year. Our students come primarily from the Ypsilanti-Willow Run-Ann Arbor area, but some are from farther away. All classes are taught by certified, experienced teachers. A guidance counselor is available to conduct testing and assist students in their educational planning.

Ypsilanti Adult Education partners with Washtenaw Literacy, Washtenaw Community College, and Workforce Development to provide an exceptional educational experience for our students.

We offer ESL (English as a Second Language) classes on-site in the morning, afternoon, and evening. The PreGED class is available in the afternoon and includes reading, writing, and math.

Classes begin in September and end in late May. There is a $15 annual registration fee. Classes are available at no or little cost to the student.  A small tuition is charged for GED Prep and testing.

Registration for ESL classes takes place three times a year. A waiting list is maintained and students notified when new registrants are accepted. The final registration for the year has taken place, but you can call now to be placed on the fall waiting list.

Registration for the PreGED class takes place monthly through March. Please call Carol Gannon at (734) 714-1880 to make an appointment. The final registration for the year has taken place, but you can call now to be placed on the fall waiting list.

Students must pre-test for placement into classes and test periodically for progress in their classes, using either the CASAS or TABE, depending on the program of instruction.

Our friendly and helpful staff is available at any time to assist in your educational planning.

Congratulations to Kevin Guilbault, our first GED completer this year! Way to go!
