Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, was the date when the YHS Athletic Hall of Fame honored 10 inductees. Those honored this year were: William Bailey (class of 1979) All American football starter at the University of Iowa; Kendra Clark (class of 2000) MAC tennis champion; Johnny Epps (class of 1992) professional basketball player; Carolyn King (class of 1979) broke the gender barrier in Little League baseball and is featured in the documentary The Girl in Centerfield; Frederick Lett (class of 1959) state high school wrestling champion and U.S. National Olympic Trial Wrestling champion; Ken Mirer (class of 1960) collegiate baseball starter and coach inducted into two Indiana Hall of Fames; Daniel Roberts (class of 1981) state high school golf champion; Scott Robinson II (class of 2000) four-year football letter winner at Western Michigan University; Fred Trosko Jr. (class of 1972) played on the NCAA Championship Notre Dame Football team; Jon “Pat” Zureich (class of 1977) MAC baseball championship team and drafted by the Detroit Tigers. The YHS Athletic Hall of Fame is proud to announce the 2011 Hall of Fame inductees. The ceremony to honor these individuals is 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2011 at Ypsilanti High School. The group will also be recognized during the football halftime program.
