Prior to leaving for their Toronto, Ontario tour, the Ypsilanti High School Chamber Singers, along with director Elizabeth Patterson, serenaded Dr. Hawkins June 10, 2009. The group sang, "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and "Don't Worry, Be Happy." During the final song the students took turns placing Hawaiian lei around his neck. The special presentation was the group's way of saying thank you and goodbye to Dr. Hawkins, who is returning this year.
