Q.  How do I obtain my Edline activation code?

A.    You will need to visit the school office to pick up your activation code with instructions on how to activate your account. For security reasons, please bring a picture ID with you.

Q.   Once I have activated my Edline account, what do I do with the activation code?

A.    Once your Edline account is activated, your activation code is no longer needed. You may destroy it. After your account is activated, you will log in to Edline with the screen name and password that you have chosen.

Q.  Why should I enter my email address in Edline?

A.     Entering your email address is essential. First, if you should forget your screen name or password, Edline will email you instructions on how to retrieve the lost information. Second, teachers will want to contact you via email. If your email address is entered when you activate your Edline account, teachers can easily email you through Edline without knowing your email address.

Q.  How can I enter an email address in Edline, or how do I change my email address?

A.    Once you are logged in to Edline, choose Manage Account at the bottom of the page.

Q.  I have more than one child in the same school. Must I have two separate accounts, one for each child?

A.    No. You can combine both accounts. First, activate an account for one of your children. When you activate the account for your second child, choose "Combine Account" instead of "New Account." This will link both children to one account.

Q.  I have a child in a middle school and a child in a high school and both schools subscribe to Edline. Can I combine these accounts into one account?

A.     Yes. When you activate your second account, click on "Combine Accounts" and not "New Account". This will allow you to go back and forth from one child to another.

Q.  I can’t remember my screen name or password. What should I do?

A.    Visit the log in screen at http://www.edline.net/ and click "I forgot my screen name or password." If you have entered your email address when you activated your account, you will receive an email with instructions on retrieving your password.

Q.  I can’t remember my screen name or password and I did not enter my email address in Edline when I activated my account. What should I do?

A.    You will need to visit your school's main office and complete an "Edline Parent Help Form". For security reasons, please bring a picture ID with you. After you complete the form, it will be forwarded to the Edline administrator in the building. Allow two business days for a response to your request.

Q.  Should I release my screen name and password to my child?

A.    No. Teachers and administrators may want to email you through Edline. They can do this without even knowing your email address. Students have their own Edline account and you should never reveal your account information to your child.

Q.  Will I have to activate an account every year?

A.    No. As long as your child remains a student in that school, you will not need to activate your account each year.

Q.  What happens if my child transfers from one high school to another high school in the county? Can I keep the same Edline account?

A.    No. Edline accounts are school specific. If your child is withdrawn from one school, his or her Edline account will be eliminated. You and your child will need to activate an account at the new school.

Q.  Can my spouse and I have a separate account to monitor our child?

A.    No. Edline creates only one parent account. Spouses will have to share the same screen name and password.

Q.  My spouse and I do not reside in the same household. What can we do to obtain a separate Edline account?

A.    You will need to contact your school's administration. If the administration determines that separate accounts are necessary, this request will be forwarded to the Edline administrator in the building. The Edline administrator will then contact you about this situation.
