The Ypsilanti Public Schools participate in mandated Child Find programs and provide services to private/parochial programs within our district. The programs are conducted in accordance with the Federal and Michigan Special Education rules and regulations. Services are provided for learning disabled, emotionally impaired, educable mentally impaired, physically and otherwise health impaired students and trainable mentally impaired students. Students with disabilities are educated with their nondisabled peers to the maximum extent possible. In addition to the programs offered within the Ypsilanti Public Schools, our students, through a cooperative agreement with other Washtenaw County schools, may participate in programs for hearing impaired and visually impaired students. Additionally, the Washtenaw Intermediate School District provides speech and language therapy, psychological evaluations and social work services. For information, call E. Ruth Jordan, (734) 714-1951.
