Ypsilanti Adult Education offers classes to Michigan residents 20 years of age and older as of September 1st of the current school year. All classes are taught by certified, experienced teachers. A guidance counselor is available to conduct testing and assist students in their educational planning.

Ypsilanti Adult Education partners with Washtenaw Literacy, RCTC, Washtenaw Community College, Hazel Park Adult Education, KET, and Workforce Development to provide an exceptional educational experience for our students.

Classes begin in September and end in late May or early June. There is a $15 annual registration fee. Classes are available at no or little cost to the student.

Students must pre-test for placement into classes and test periodically for progress in their classes, using either the CASAS or TABE, depending on the program of instruction.

Registration for ESL classes occurs after every 90 hours of instruction. A waiting list is maintained and students notified when new registrants are accepted. Registration for GED, Pre-GED, and High School Completion classes is continuous and available throughout the school year.

Ypsilanti Adult Education offers ESL (English as a Second Language) classes on-site in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Pre-GED classes are available in the afternoon and include reading, writing, and math.

GED Preparation is provided online in partnership with KET (Kentucky Educational Television). Students study from assigned texts. Students may attend a weekly on-site tutorial session if they need assistance. A small tuition is charged.

High School Completion classes are online in partnership with Hazel Park Adult Education.  Students may access instruction at any time on their own personal computers. A small tuition is charged.

Our friendly and helpful staff are available at any time to assist in your educational planning.
