Honoring Veterans
Students at Ypsilanti's Estabrook Elementary School enjoyed an assembly Nov. 11 which honored veterans. Bill Nicholas and Murl Eastman, World War II veterans and Lloyd Suter, a Vietnam War veteran presented a brief program on their military experience. Students also performed a skit and patriotic music selections. Students who participated in the skit included, left to right: Macallan Winning, Jasmine Smith, Isabel Paul, Amaree Athanasatos, and Montrez Bailey.

DROP OFF AND PICK UP OF STUDENTS
Students may be dropped off at 8:10 a.m. for breakfast. If you need
to drop them off earlier, you need to sign up for Champions. There
is a charge for Champions. They provide daycare from 7:00 a.m.
to 8:34 a.m. and from 3:36 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Champions' phone number
is 547-9221.
The safety of our kids continues to be an issue before and after
school. We would like to urge parents to help enforce good safety
and traffic flow by following a few simple guidelines.
For morning drop off, the sidewalk lane should be used for "quick" drop offs. Please park in specified spaces if you would like to walk
your kids to the school. This will greatly help in traffic control
and flow.
For pick up, parking along the sidewalk and marked spaces only. No
parking along the lane closest to the school. We have begun having
parents assist in keeping children from crossing in front of parked
cars without an adult and keeping vehicles moving through properly.
Please continue to enter the parking lot in the far west entrance
and also inform anyone who is picking up your children. Please respect
the people who are kindly reminding you of these guidelines.
For the safety of all our children, please drop off and pick up students
curbside or park and walk to the sidewalk to pick them up.
We seriously discourage early pick up, especially after 3:00. All
teachers have end-of-day procedures for homework and special event
reminders. It certainly puts your children at a real disadvantage.
If you know you have a change in transportation for the day, please
send the teacher a note or call their classroom extension. Your cooperation
is greatly appreciated. See Friday Notes
Reminder to parents:
When you have a change in your phone number, it's imperative that
you update your phone number with your child's school. A phone
number is critical for contacting parents/guardians when a child
is sick, has an emergency, missed the school bus or has an unexcused
absence. An undated phone
number also assures parents that they will receive important information
through our automated phone system regarding school closings, special
events or message from the Superintendent. Thank you for keeping
the home-school connection current.
