Computer Systems Technology - open to third and fourth year students.

This program prepares students for employment as a microcomputer service technician or network assistant. Students are heavily involved in hands-on projects that include replacing parts, upgrading software, removing viruses and troubleshooting of general hardware and software problems. All students have the opportunity to build computers & networks from new and used parts. Projects include an introduction to all operating systems: hardware installation, configuration, and troubleshooting. Advanced projects include networks: Peer-to-peer, CAN, MAN, WAN, Cable Modem, Satellite and Wireless. Flexibility, customer relations, problem-solving, and inter-personal communication skills are emphasized. This two-year course provides the opportunity to prepare students to pass the Computer Technology Industry Association's (CompTIA) A+ Certification, Network+ and Security+.

High school mathematics credit will available while taking this course. Students may earn 5-12 college credits with Washtenaw Community College or Baker College on an articulation basis while in high school. With instructor’s permission, students may elect this class for a second year.
