The Regional Career Technical Center (RCTC) is a vocational Consortium
serving the Lincoln, Willow Run, and Ypsilanti school districts.
We also serve several students from Whitmore Lake. Sophomore and junior
students sign up for RCTC classes when they schedule classes for the their
junior and senior years.
Four programs are located at Ypsilanti High School:
Allied Health - Students learn about
basic patient care tasks along with medical, clerical and laboratory skills.
Medical Terms, how illness effects people, first aid and CPR are some
of the many skills taught and learned in the class.
Child Care - This is a class for students
who enjoy young children and would like to prepare themselves for a career
in the field of early childhood education.
Computer Systems Technology - Students learn
the ins and outs of computer repair and prepare themselves for A+ certification.
They work on many community projects as well.
Graphic Arts - This is a comprehensive program
that trains students to perform tasks as skills involved in the production
of printed material.
Four other programs are located off campus:
Auto Collision - Congress near West Middle School
- This is a two-year program designed to train students for entry
level positions in the collision repair industry as either painters helpers
or collision repair helpers.
Auto Mechanics - Congress near West Middle School
- This is an entry level course for auto technicians that utilizes
the State mandated NATEF curriculum. Over two years, students will
cover virtually all of the mechanical and electrical systems of cars.
Construction Technology - Located on Ainsley
(by Fletcher School) in the City of Ypsilanti - In this
class students construct a complete residential structure in a local neighborhood
over two school years. Students gain experience in all phases of
construction.
Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management - Fletcher
School - Open to third and fourth year students. This course opens the
door to what is the second largest industry world-wide. By laying a foundation
of entry-level training in the operations and management of hotels and
restaurants, the course prepares students to enter the work place on the
fasttrack to management. The course curriculum spans the entire hospitality
industry including the basics of cooking, nutrition science and technology,
sanitation and hygiene, customer service fundamentals, as well as the
essentials of cost analysis. Articulation college credits to both Washtenaw
Community College and Ferris State University can be earned as well.
